Cajun Music Benefit for Legacy Housing Foundation
Legacy Housing Foundation’s signature fundraising event and Cajun-themed dance party, Fais Do-Do, is coming up on Friday, Nov. 22! Once again, The Standard at 416 W. Jackson will be transformed into a Cajun dance hall with sizzling two-stepping tunes and authentic south Louisiana sound.
The party itself will be from 7 - 10pm, with set-up starting at 3pm and tear-down ending at approximately 11pm. Volunteers needed for 3 hour shifts beginning at 3pm but are welcome to stay til the end. Once you've signed up to volunteer, someone will reach out to you to discuss the details.
Four-time Grammy-Nominated Pine Leaf Boys will headline the show. The world-renown Cajun band presents their own brand of Louisiana music reviving ancient songs and bringing them to the bandstand. They put a rock and roll spin on old fashion dance hall standards to create a sound for the ears as well as the feet. Rolling Stone said the band is “the next best thing to a Saturday night dance in Lafayette!” Roux du Bayou will open the set with a repertoire that includes French and Creole ballads and plenty of present-day Cajun sound.
Legacy Housing Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that serves subsidized housing communities throughout East Tennessee by providing programs and goods for individuals and families with limited income. All proceeds from Fais Do-Do will go toward the Foundation.
