Avalon Hospice Union County Volunteer
Hospice patient/family volunteers work directly with patients, caregivers, and families. Direct care volunteers can provide support and comfort to patients and families in many ways. Common areas where direct care volunteers can provide assistance are: companionship, meals for patient/families, assisting with light chores. Volunteers will not be expected to provide hands on care, administer medications, or assist with transfers or walking.
Any volunteer opportunities that involve direct patient contact requires a drug screen, background check, 12 hour training that is divided between office setting and self-study time, completion of all required volunteer forms, medical exam form, 2 step TB testing, and ongoing trainings provided on a monthly basis. These can all be completed at no cost to you. Proof of valid car insurance and driver’s license also required.
